When it comes to sustainability and carbon emissions, knowing where your food comes from and searching out local producers is key to minimizing impact. Our beef is sourced from a local Hereford Farm, Thurston Livestock that has been producing top quality products for more than 25 years. By sourcing local beef we can reduce transportation costs and therefore carbon emissions. By knowing our producers, we are able to maintain a high level of transparency and trust, we know our product is raised with high standards and care.

Grass fed local beef is available in our freezer section in both ground beef and stew beef options.

Benefits to Grass Fed Beef

Grass fed meat is often touted as the preferred option for health conscious people, but why? Grass Fed meat is often very lean and much lower in fat and calories. It contains higher levels of conjucated linoic acid (CLA), a beneficial fat that has been linked to improved immunity, healthy weight management. It also has anti inflammatory properties.

Grass fed beef also has some environmental benefits over its conventional counterpart. By not feeding (often genetically modified) corn and other grains the agricultural impact required to raise the animal is greatly reduced. Local beef reduces the carbon emissions needed to produce and transport cattle feed made of grain.  Pasture grazing improves farm land soil and contributes to local eco systems.
